Here is the latest update from Barm. I see some of our members have already
received this but I'm forwarding it to the reflector so that others can
read the news. However, I'm not sure what a meningioma tumor is. Mik-UM can
you help here?

>Dear Friends:
>
>I am amazed myself -- brain surgery on Wednesday, home for recuperation
>on Friday!!! No complications with vision, motor, taste, smell or anything.
>They transferred me from the neuro ICU last night at 1 am into the regular
>Neuro floor,
>and rather than be wheeled in a bed, I walked down the halls to make the
>transfer--
>they told me that in all Huntsville Hospital history, they have never had
>anyone
>come in on foot -- always bed transfers.
>
>Surgery was removal of a 4.6 cm meningioma tumor, totally benign, from the
>occipital lobe of the brain.
>I have a hole in my head, covered with the original skull plus a metal plate
>I'll always
>have -- no more passing the security check at the airport, I guess. Tumor
>was oval
>and consistency was "semi-solid" is what the doc said. Said it was really
>big not to have caused
>any symptoms so far. My good friend, Mike Raskin, and my daughter, Wendi,
>both led me to
>believe this surgery would be relatively routine -- they were certainly
>correct.
>
>I am home, have a recovery period ahead before I can go back to work, and
>that will
>be a few weeks.
>
>I am so grateful for all your thoughts, all your prayers, all the white
>light, that came
>from all over the world. No one would ever convince me that those don't work
>-- they do!
>There was something about the manner of discovery of the tumor, the timing
>of it,
>and the lack of the tumor's effect of it on me that had to be spiritually
>arranged. My own faith,
>that of my lovely wife, Trudi, and her getting me into good physical shape
>at the gym the last
>few years had to put me in total readiness to accept this news now. My
>daughter, Susan, also
>had some surgery on the very next day, and, thankfully, hers was also
>successful because
>of all the same reasons -- who could ever not have faith?
>
>I just wanted you to know I am on the mend, will be back online in a sorta
>limited fashion and
>would love to hear from you. Thanks again for all the support and love.
>
>Love to all of you,
