[SFDXA] Fw: QSP de W2OE re Crowne Plaza

I found out about this deal before leaving for Dayton this year. Similar to
Merv, I had registered early with the Crowne Plaza for the "special"
$122/night Hamvention rate. The Hamvention rate has a 30 day cancellation
policy or else the one night deposit ($137 w/taxes) would be forfeited.

Given the Hamvention requires a 3 night minimum stay, I calculated the
difference between the Hamvention and AAA rates for the three night stay.
Even with forfeiting the one night deposit, using the AAA rate, I still
saved $25 over the three night stay.

It's no secret that Hamvention attendance has fallen significantly. I'm
sure some will remember the years when the hallways of EVERY floor was
packed. When the elevator doors would open, it was hard to tell whether the
density was higher in the elevator or on the floor. In these times the
hotel was sold out months in advance. There were NO rooms to be had at
Hamvention time. This, sadly, is no longer the case.

Similar to airlines, hotels use past statistics and booking rates to
determine nightly rates. What we're seeing is probably their logical
reaction to falling Hamvention attendance. If current trends continue,
there should be a greater availability of last minute rooms at the Crowne
Plaza.
