I received the following reply from Rep. Robert Wexler
regarding support for H.R. 1478:

"Thank you for writing to express your support for the Amateur Radio
Emergency Communications Consistency Act (H.R. 1478). I appreciate
hearing from you regarding amateur radio, an important service and
enjoyable hobby.

After the tragedy of September 11, our nation has a renewed appreciation
for the selfless contributions of emergency workers. While their
contributions are not as often noticed, amateur radio operators provide
an invaluable service in times of national disaster. H.R. 1478 would
help eliminate unnecessary obstacles to amateur radio. The bill would
simply give amateur radio operators the ability to negotiate fair
accommodations with their community associations. H.R. 1478 has been
referred to the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the
Internet. If this bill comes to the full House for a vote, rest assured
I will keep your concerns in mind."
