This is the last monthly news summary you will receive in 2003. I want to
> thank all of the appointees who worked long and hard to make ARRL visible in
> the Southern Florida section. I appreciate your efforts. You make my job
> easier and you're a great team to work with. The members also appreciate you,
> because you help provide a better amateur radio experience for everyone. Keep
> up the good work and 2004 will be even better.
>
> Happy holiday season to all. I've enjoyed meeting many of you at hamfests and
> club meetings and via e-mail and I hope to meet more of you next year.
>
> In 2004 I and the cabinet members hope to visit clubs that we missed in 2003.
> We also would like a conference of ECs and DECs during the year. Plans are
> contingent upon budget money from ARRL HQ and our work schedules. We'll give
> you lead time and schedule visits and conferences when most members can
> attend.
>
> There's a new look at www.sflarrl.org. Check it out & participate in monthly
> surveys. Click on the ARES logo for the section emergency plan and the listing
> of ECs. VE teams and instructors please notify the webmaster of changes.
>
> The section news will be updated later in the month since work sent me out of
> town for a week. There will be news of clubs, net activities, new photos, and
> hints for eliminating spam from your @arrl.net address. Please have your club
> publicity person send a list of your 2004 incoming/continuing officers to
> Jeff, WA4AW and myself and I'll post all that I receive. (No publicity person
> designated? Contact your president and volunteer or suggest someone who might
> be interested -- it's YOUR club). I'll send an e-mail when the page is updated.
>
> The fifth annual SKYWARN Recognition Day (SRD) took place on December 6 to
> recognize Amateur Radio operators for the vital public service they perform
> during times of severe weather, and to strengthen the bond between radio
> amateurs and their local National Weather Service office. Thanks to all who
> participated. I visited the Melbourne site and was pleased to see a large
> group there. It was great meeting the folks from Osceola and connecting faces
> to calls and e-mails. Members of Treasure Coast Skywarn and Osceola Skywarn
> participated from Melbourne NWS. WX4NHC was active from NWS in Miami. Photos
> will be posted soon.
>
> Has your club elected new officers for 2004? That's a quick and easy news
> release to your local newspaper that gains some exposure for your club but
> also calls attention to the people who make your club active, vibrant and
> visible to the community. At this time of year, many small community
> newspapers are looking for local news entries. Send them a release with the
> name, city of residence and office held by your club's new slate of leaders --
> From Jeff Reinhardt AA6JR, Chairman - ARRL Public Relations Committee
