BlankJust had to pass this on from Rohn. They obviously have egg on =
their face and are trying to cover it up. =20

Below is what I sent and their reply. However, if you go to =
http://www.rohnnet.com/index.htm and=20

and look at the bottom left photo in their 'photo gallery', it is =
obvious that there are only 2 sets of guys=20

by the spacing and location of where they attach to the tower. I didn't =
have the heart to tell them that.=20

BTW... I hope their token of appreciation is about 150 feet of Rohn 45 =
!! =20

Dear Pete,

Thanks for taking the time to write to us. What you found was an error =
made
by our photo retouch service in preparation for the use of the original
photo in our calendar. While in the process of removing some debris =
around
the base of the tower they removed the lower portion of the third set of
guy wires - if you look closely, the wires are visible at the top but =
not
at the bottom. Unfortunately, the error was not caught until well after =
the
calendar was printed and distributed.

If you'll give me your address, I'd like to send you a small gift for
catching our blooper. Thanks!

Just took a look at the Rohn web site, since a friend was looking for
info on Rohn 25. What I found made me smile.

I have two of the Rohn books, and have always purused the pages before
putting up or talking to others about what they should put up.

After looking at the Rohn web pages, I am wondering about their =
engineering
skills. They always have lots of warnings about safety, and then they =
show
photos in their photo gallery of installations that do not go by their
specs.

If you look at the photo gallery, there is a photo of a 100 foot guyed
tower
in Antarctica. It is painted red and white. It has two sets of guys.
I'll
bet that whoever put that up did not look at the 100 MPH wind loading
specs.
They call for 3 sets of guys. I would guess that if there were anywhere
that the wind blows 100+ MPH on a regular basis, it is at the Palmer
Station, Antarctica location. The 90 MPH specs also require 3 sets of
guys.
Only the 70 MPH specs require 2 sets of guys.

Kinda makes you wonder why Rohn is proud of an installation which =
doesn't
go
by their specs?

Just food for thought, when we have to deal with all those nasty code
enforcement types.

Just wonder what your take on this is.
