Public safety communications in Washtenaw County  will get a major overhaul 
after voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed an  emergency radio millage that 
many, including its strongest supporters, had  doubts would succeed. 
Roughly 62 percent of voters across the county passed  Proposal A, which will 
raise property taxes by 0.2 mill and generate roughly $32  million over 10 
years to unify the different communications systems used by  emergency 
first-responder agencies.
