Savvy police in the 8th District recently captured a ring of sophisticated 
burglars who used scanners and cell phones to elude police. Says Beat 833 
Officer Ronald Peinta, "What would happen is that two of them would sit back in the 
van, watching the building, watching for police, and listening to the scanner. 
The scanner would come across that there is a burglary in progress. The 
offenders would then...dial that phone...to the other phone that the other 
offenders would have inside the building, and say, '
