Good question.  The answer is that the antenna comes with a 300/75 Ohm balun
and 75 Ohm Coax (RG-59) with "F" connectors (TV) is specified for it.  So,
I'd say it was designed around that impedance and while 50 Ohm (RG-58) MIGHT
match the receiver you'd still have the mismatch at the antenna.  They may
have done that as I believe the UHF loss through RG-59 is less than it is
through RG-58 (I'd have to check the "tables" to be sure).
