scanner is the ability to create as many banks as you want with as many or
few memories in each bank you want out of whatever number of memory channels
are available.

Example, I'd like to scan such and such and need 15 memories to do so.  I
create 1 bank with 15 channels.  Then for so and so I only need 6 memories
so bank 2 would only be 6 memories, and so on.
