Good advise Edmund. Like you I want the best bang for the buck.
I have made a few antennas for specific freq's by taking BNC connectors for
cable, getting a piece of piano wire, .020" I believe, (measure the center
pin on yours if you wish to try this), cutting it to proper length using
shrink wrap as an insulator and assembling the connector over the rod.
