[Scanner] Detection

How far away will it be detectable? I've never put any time into
experimenting, but one channel on my bedroom TV will pick up my scanner and
sometimes one scanner will click from another scanner in the same room. I
wouldn't think this would be a long range thing.
On a related note, back in the days of crystal controlled two-ways, I could
always tell when a police car was within a block or so because my scanner
would lock up on their frequency, even if they were not transmitting.

Yes. Explore tuning on another scanner or wide band HF radio that
can pick up the switching pulses as the scanner scans. see. The
folks in Black Suburbans can discover you right easy that way.
But don't become paranoid. There are a lot of bigger fish to fry
than the lowly low tech scanner listener. I hope, anyway.
