Hi Rob, I appreciate your reply to my query, saw another one too in my inbox and will
get back to him as soon as I can............and it's nice to see that the list still works.
Hadn't seen anything come through in a while.

Roger on the stuff that's been posted; mostly I think it was right on the mark.  One reason
why I like to see if folks who go to the Friday practice can report anything is that (as
pointed out in the Monitoring Times article I found) in certain cases a team goes to a
location where (for whatever reason) one of their normal freqs is in use.  That's when ya
find out, potentially, about secondary or backup freqs............and knowing if that crops
up you can adjust accordingly and not miss anything.

I use my radio at the show(s) to pick up comms for the *show* as opposed to the public
safety locals.  Reason for that is, when I shoot video I like to get some radio calls onto
the video - it adds a whole additional layer of information and interest, at least to me.  :-)

Not sure how the weather was down there today (Sunday) but from home QTH up in
West Lafayette the radar pic sure looked wet.  And given how much it rained after the
Saturday show, I'd bet the grounds were just a muddy nasty mess.  I think my wife's
radar for these things was right on the mark again; she appears to have called the better
day as Saturday.  It was mostly overcast but didn't rain until just after the show was over
at least, not on-field.  Several obvious rain areas passed off the the east of Mount Comfort
and it sounded like the show people were keeping an eye on them.

It was "low show" all day, but this isn't neccessarily a bad thing when you're shooting
pix or vids from the ground - brings the airplanes closer and that makes for an easier
shoot in many respects.  BA's were great as always although I got the feeling that they
may have cut short a bit.  Did NOT see the crossover break done and I was right at
show center in a perfect place to catch that on video - that manuever is always great on
either pix or vid.   A welcome surprise was the "Heavy Metal" jet team.  They flew a first
rate show and added some punch to what was IMHO a somewhat lacking lineup of
performers.  Viper Demo was up first while we were sitting in traffic and did a Heritage
Flight with a P51...........got to see some of that from the vehicle but would have rather
known about it in advance.  I'd have made sure to leave home about an hour earlier if
I *had* known.  That was the only Mustang, and it did NOT fly during the warbirds segment
which I think I heard on the radio may have been due to a fuel leak or something like that.

Warbirds were a little thin.  Biggest thing there was one B25 which looked good but no
B17, B24 and unfortunately no B29 - I think FiFi may have been at Langely this weekend.
Even so, it is good to hear that she is back in the air again.  I get the feeling that work on
"Doc" (which would make a second flying B29 for CAF) has been slowed, although there
is a great video out on YouTube of one of the engines being run up on test stand.  I look
forward to having Doc be available.

So with the singly P51 being down, also the Bearcat didn't make it.  No P40, a number
of empty spots.  Had an Avenger, ONE Corsair, a Wildcat, the B25, and a handful of
others.  Choppers very slim, had a nice Huey.

Got a surprise flyby from a KC135R of the 434th ARW at Grissom came by with the boom
down.  I think call was INDY81 which is a common radio call for them.

In spite of the thin lineup, I give a lot of credit to the Indy Airshow people for getting the
most out of what they had.  No real "dead" spots during the scheduled flying time.

There were a fair number of people in attendance; I have seen larger but I have also seen
MUCH fewer.  Merch vendors were slim pickin's .......... I did not see ANY patch vendors,
which I like to collect from.  Did get a nice Seal Team t-shirt with the backside having a
comment about 5/1/2011  :-)   and I thought it was actually in good taste and not the sort
of killed-BinLaden kind of over-the-top stuff that's been getting around the internet.

With the price for tickets having been low(er) than many previous years, which helped
compensate for the price of gas to get there, it was a good day.

There's a thread on RR with a lot of at least public safety freqs. Plus
the MT2011 airshow guide just came out this week, that should have most of
the air freqs.
