Indeed Fat Albert did fly (both days) but the RATO
bottles didn't light off on Sunday. Since no comment
was made about them not being used by PA announcer and
seeing on the streaming WTHR video that they WERE used
on Saturday I have to assume that something was FUBAR
on Sunday's attempt. Fat Albert's takeoff roll was
longer and faster than the normal RATO takeoff, too,
quite a bit past show center. Seen this a couple
times before, and there is no mistaking the visible
purpleish flames from the RATO's or the quite
unmistakeable sound they make. Wife was shooting
stills and I'll have to double check her prints on
this when she gets her film done. Also noted that Fat
Albert's landing and thrust reversal occurred well
past show center, too. C-130 problems?

Rest of BA show was superb (I was at Sunday) with the
weather being more co-operative and almost not a cloud
in the sky. So we did get some "high show" type stuff
that I don't think they did on Saturday (when I
watched the show from WTHR's streaming video).

Was NOT too happy at the $20-a-head price tag to get
in........we've paid considerably less in previous
years and got a lot more airshow.........and checking
the parking areas and the crowd, I get the feeling I
wasn't the only one who felt this way. Parking lots
were nowhere near full......exiting the show took
about 1/2 the time it used to, and the crowd just
seemed about 50% of many previous years.

There seemed a rather conspicuous absense of military
other than BA's and the Army chopper team....noting
that the Terre Haute show in a couple weeks is to have
both the west F15 demo team and a Navy F18 demo
team.......and where are the Heritage flights? Had
'em at Mount Comfort before but not this time.

Other comment about this years show - and I need to
forward this on to the show folks. TOO MANY TENTS AND
CRAP ON THE FLIGHTLINE !!!!!! They larded it up so
bad that from what is a usually good seat right down
on show center, the ordinary folks who can't afford
the "special" seating were unable to see most of the
BA solo passes which also made it a real pain to line
up in time for decent photos. I heard something about
a video being available but didn't catch who FROM?
Anybody get that info? Anyhow, NOW HEAR THIS SHOW
PEOPLE - if you're gonna charge the ordinary folks $20
a head to get in the gate, make sure they can see the
low passes, too. IMHO, if ya do THAT, you could sell
3 times as many tickets at $10 and actually make more
money than by charging big bucks and blocking the view
for the sake of those few who can shell out the big
bucks. Mount Comfort just isn't big enough to have
that many VIP tents "in the way" as a bigger field
show like Dayton or others.
