[ScanIndiana] Duke Energy

Down here in New Albany, I had a power outage a few weeks ago, where a
blow-out breaker right behind my house went out. When the Duke truck
(complete with, get this, ONE person to fix it -- no one to spot him if he
got hurt...so much for safety, but that's besides the point I guess) arrived
to fix it, he left his radio turned up with the door open so he could hear
his radio. Sounded like a normal radio to me, judging from the way the
audio sounded. I loaned my scanner to someone so she could listen to SAFE-T
so I can't monitor right now, but I really don't think this was Nextel. The
audio sounded too good.

To all scanner listeners

I was working a traffic accident that involved a Duke Energy pole early
today. I was talking to the lineman about their radios.
They are now using a mobile mounted Nextel radio/phone for their
communications. This is their primary mode of communications.
They still have their Motorola 800 mhz radios strictly as back up or for use
in area where they have no Nextel coverage and service.
They are set up to use as group calls from different dispatch centers and
offices. They also have private contact for other units.

This really stinks for us scanner listeners.
