Just so there's no confusion...

Even though the Hendricks County Sheriff Department has SAFE-T talk groups
defined for it, they are still using their VHF frequencies for all dispatch
traffic. Some of the officers have been issued 800MHz handhelds and are using
the talk groups for car-to-car type traffic.

Here is a rundown of the current situation in Hendricks County to the
best of my
knowledge:

Department System Dispatch Location
=============================================
Sheriff VHF Sheriff HQ, Danville
Brownsburg PD VHF Brownsburg PD/FD
Brownsburg Fire VHF Brownsburg PD/FD
Avon PD MECA Plainfield PD/FD
Avon Fire MECA Plainfield PD/FD
Plainfield PD MECA Plainfield PD/FD
Plainfield Fire MECA Plainfield PD/FD
Pittsboro PD VHF Sheriff HQ, Danville
Pittsboro Fire SAFE-T Danville PD/FD
Danville PD SAFE-T Danville PD/FD
Danville Fire SAFE-T Danville PD/FD
Liberty Fire MECA or VHF ? Plainfield PD/FD
Lizton Fire SAFE-T or VHF ? Danville PD/FD
Mill Creek Fire VHF Sheriff HQ, Danville
North Salem Fire VHF Danville PD/FD
Clayton, Amo, Lizton, Coatesville, North Salem, Stilesville PDs and Town
Marshals
                  VHF Sheriff HQ, Danville

All of this is in a state of flux. The most likely outcome is that
there will be
one PSAP and dispatch center located in Plainfield that will have capabilities
on all three systems. The eastern third of the county (Brownsburg, Avon,
Plainfield) will all be on MECA while the rest of the county will be on SAFE-T
with the old VHF systems as back-ups. Of course, with an election going on in
the county involving the Sheriff, County Commissioners, and County Council, it
all could change.
