OK, here's the thing.

I have a scanner. I want it to scan, not sit silently
and monitor the weather. I don't have any reason to
buy a NOAA Weather Radio, when I have a perfectly good
scanner. Over here in Ohio, the DNR is great at
putting out weather alerts. Here in Cuyahoga County,
CECOMS does it. That's also county specific. (CECOMS
Center to all Cuyahoga County hospitals and fire
departments, stand by for a weather alert!)

Finally, I just like hearing the message:

Attention District 22 units and stations, home weather
monitors...

It makes storm watching more fun for me. And they're
read by a REAL PERSON!
