ISP puts out information that you will not get from NOAA and other sources.
There is nothing wrong with having a redundant method of receiving critical
information.

I'm curious. What urgent weather alerts do the State Police broadcast
that aren't already broadcasted by the National Weather Service?
Wouldn't a NOAA Weather Radio with SAME decoding serve the same
purpose? A State Police broadcast is going to cover all of the
counties in their district, but SAME encoding is county-specific.
And, for what it's worth, I get weather notices on my pager through
www.stormnow.com at about the same time they come out on NOAA Weather
Radio. And my pager is a lot smaller and lighter than just about any
VHF radio. StormNow can also send weather alerts to email-capable
cellphones.
