Don't take my word for it that you won't be able to hear Knox county
without a digital scanner.  I am in Indianapolis, and basing my
statement on what I have read.  I would strongly suggest getting on the
SAFE-T Yahoo Group and checking there with some folks from Knox county.

As far as a suggested scanner, I use a PRO96 from Radio Shack.  It does
a decent job, but is pretty big for a portable.  Uniden has come out
with a BC 396D (I think that's the proper number), that is considerably
smaller.  Be prepared to part with around $500 for either one of those.
