Jess Spry, KC9IIF, wrote that Uniden would not honor a warranty on a scanner
he had. Maybe the time ran out on the warranty but I find it hard to believe
that Uniden would back away from the warranty of any of their products.

I have AOR, Radio Shack Pro 2004 (two of them), Bearcat (reddot special),
Sony, and a ton of Uniden scanners and all them perform quite well.

The newest Uniden scanner I have is the TrunkTracker III BC246T, Once I
learned how to use the scanner it has simply amazed me at what it "hears" and
what it will do in such a small package. But pretty soon I will have to move up
to the "digital" scanner and it will be a Uniden that I buy.

I took my BC246T on a cruise down the Mexican coast to Cozumel before WILMA
ran us back to Houston, TX and I did not miss too much. On the top deck I
could pull in State side from Texas to Tampa Bay with an extended antenna.
Kinda reminded me of Cruising the Gulf of Mexico on the USS Lexington CVS 16, way
back in 1968, and listening to WLS Chicago and WBZ Boston when they used to
play all the top tunes.

Any way ole Tim means well but nobody ever taught the dude how to be tactful
when commenting on an any subject. I too have been around the news media for
a long time and I have seen all types of scanners in use.

Now if someone could come up with a program that could capture and decode
the mobile laptop transmissions and make it affordable that would be something
to brag about!
