Actually its GRE, or General Research of Electronics
http://www.greamerica.com/oem.html ... There is only 2 things that I wish
they had that Uniden has a patent on, that is illumination on squelch break,
and computer control... The ease of programming is a whole lot better as
well as the sound quality... Other than that, if you want a real
"professional" radio as they use in the news collection agencies within the
Fort Wayne area, buy an actual system radio with the co-operation of the
communications director and allow him to program it... They have the
transmit disabled but all other functions and channels are permitted... It
seems the true professionals use professional equipment that cost a whole
lot more than either of the brand radios you comment on here... Scanners
are fully functional in both brands, just some like Ford instead of Chevy or
Chrysler... Get over it and get on with life... Just a few pennies of
observations...
