[ScanIndiana] RE: [MilCom] need quick info

Ed - thank you for confirming what I already suspected.
I just had no corroboration, only a list that showed it
for the Fort Wayne tower as opposed to being related to
a CP. I am pretty sure that what I was hearing from the
Terre Haute guys was also (partly) on the same freq. and
what you wrote certainly seems to suggest the connection.

Glad I left it in the scanner!

Wife got her photos back and while they were relatively
uninspiring due to the lack of more telephoto capability,
the series of the F117A she shot in "auto-advance mode"
is clear and crisp and there is NO mistaking that aircraft
even though you can't read any markings. I do not think
even scanning the negs and really enlarging and enhancing
will let me bring that out. Shooting a black aircraft against
a light sky calls for manual overexposure to an extent and
a largely automatic camera makes that a pain in the butt.
I might slap some in the scanner when I get a chance but
I don't hold out much hope for any details.

Thanks for you reply and info. !!!

Duane,

257.8 is used by local civilian airports to communicate with military
on UHF. I normally only hear it when special aircraft are in the area
(airshows, flybys, etc). It's listed at South Bend as well. Unfortunately
I was pegged to work the 4th and didn't get a chance to monitor any
milcomms. My "other" radio kept me busy.

Cheers,
Ed
