It is also illegal to watch broadcast television and listen to broadcast
radio in the UK.  You need a government license for any radio in UK.

Various parts of 130-140 MHz are allocated to aircraft, satellite, and
military/federal government worldwide.  UK is in ITU region 1 where the
2m amateur band is 144-146 MHz.
