Mark & all:

Closing IndyScan was a personal decision made by me & me alone. As I've
stated on the page, I'm no longer active in the hobby. I have been slowly
losing interest for a while. The updates & newsletters were something I
didn't look forward to doing each month so I made a decision to close.

I felt I should do something with the data. I could have done the
following:

1) Stop updating the site & let it go stale.
2) Delete the site all together.
3) Donate all the info we had to someone who would help it live on.

I liked what I saw on www.radioreference.com & I feel Steve is doing a great
job with all the info he has to manage. I made the decision to contact
Steve & he graciously accepted to take the data. He's been actively adding
the data to the site since I sent it to him (I peeked a few times (ha)).

I thought about posting something on ScanIndiana, but didn't want to steer
the recent discussions off track with 100 emails asking me not to close
IndyScan. Instead, I sent a message to all the newsletter subscribers
letting them know the situation (this also gave them time to get any info
from they site the needed/wanted). I have since deleted the mailing list as
I promised I would do.

I started IndyScan when I had an easy 9-5 job, no kids & a lovely wife. I
now have a time-consuming job that I love, 2 kids & the same lovely wife.
It's been an 8-year adventure that I simply outgrew.

I knew this decision would disappoint some. I appreciate all the positive
feedback received from the friends I've made along the way. It was an honor
to be able to provide the service we did.

I was picking up some DX from the really good band opening
last night. So I went to www.indyscan.com to check some
references and found it closed. The page says it has given all of the
Indyscan info to www.radioreference.com.
