emergencymai.org seem to be legit, I use it normally for weather and in the
past I got email simular to this one and it was almost immediately broadcast
on the major network newscasts.

Also does anyone know when the next ham test is going to be in Marion or
Hendricks County?
Thanks in advance

A good point is made here - it is too easy to use that
kind of ploy as a "dataminer" for spammers to use as
a huge source of email addresses. I'd like to know
who is sponsoring this site.

And another important concern:

I sent a large number of emails to FBI, FCC, etc et al
after 9/11 asking how we Amateurs (and scannists) could
be of any assistance *without* violating that part of
the Communications Act (I think it's currently called
Section 705) that covers "divulgence". I was greeted
with a stony cold silence all the way around.

I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but I'll be damned if
I'm going to risk losing 30 years worth of licensing and
my Extra Class ticket over a stupid 705 prosecution.
When Mr. Hollingsworth and the FCC can assure me that
I can use my resources for this purpose and NOT get
prosecuted for it, I'll be not only happy but honored
to do so. Something official in writing would be nice.
Something in the way of a law would be better....like
an exception written into 705.

It will take intercepting a very VERY specific threat or
other very VERY specific actions for me to take that risk.

How can you help your country when you can be in violation
of the law and be prosecuted for doing so?
