For those of you planning to visit "Fifi" and "Diamond Lil"
at Fort Wayne this week, here are the details:
The aircraft are parked on the ramp behind the Fort Wayne
Flight Academy. Go to the intersection of Ferguson Rd. and
Airport Drive and take the intersecting drive to the south.
(Look for a big green sign that says "Mercury East". On the
same sign it says "Fort Wayne Flight Academy"). The drive
winds around a little; look for a tan building on your left,
with a sign that says Flight Academy. You enter the aircraft
display area behind this building (south side).
Don't know where to tell you to park. There is a small parking
lot at the Flight academy, but I suspect that will fill up
pretty quick. The rest of the parking lots in this area are
for rental cars. Maybe they will allow parking along Ferguson
Road, or perhaps in the old Kresge Warehouse lot across the
road, but I don't know. I suspect there will be signs
directing you.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 7-18, and free for
kids under seven, with adult.
The times are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday the 13th thru Sunday
the 18th.
Half-hour flights aboard the B-24 "Diamond Lil" are available
to those over 18 if you have a fat wallet: $400 per person!
Sorry, no flights on the B-29.
