"Pagoda" is the nickname for the control tower at the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway. The old wooden tower resembled an oriental pagoda, hence the
name. It was replaced back in the late 50's-early 60's with a modern glass
and steel tower. That tower was replaced with a new tower a few years ago
that architecturally resembles the old wooden tower.
On the other hand, the timing of the flyover for the U.S. Grand Prix this
year was nearly perfect.
