[ScanIndiana] SAFE-T system in Indy and BC296

I have been very happy with the receive quality on the MECA system. In
fact, I go through some pretty nasty spots with cell tower interference =
(who
doesn't?) that used to really hammer my 245, and the 296 seems to handle
these spot pretty well. Like I said elsewhere, the digital quality is =
only
as good as the RF signal. If it's not getting a good signal, there =
won't be
much usable decoded digital audio. I should be receiving an on-glass
antenna for my truck next week. I am hoping that will improve my signal
quality. My normal area is kind of "fringy" for the SAFE-T towers.
Battery Life is pretty much as I have read else-where. Not much over 2 =
or 3
hours on a full charge. I'm sure your mileage could vary, depending on =
the
activity of the systems being monitored. The good thing is the Ni-MH
battery back shouldn't have much of a memory effect, so "topping off" =
the
charge shouldn't hurt.
All-in-all, it would be interesting to have a PRO-96 and a 296 side by =
side,
receiving the same digital signal, with the same antenna, and see which =
was
better "sounding".

Hey Ken,
Man you hit the nail on the head when you said should I get the 296 or
the Pro96 wow i"ve been asking myself the same question over and over.=20
Like you I've only purchased uniden stuff in the past 235,895,245 and im
not all that savvy with the radio shack pro. equipment .
Anyway what do you think about the audio quality on MECA (analog) ISP 52
(digital) and what kind of battery life do you get from your new toy.
Thanks dude and have fun:-)
