Yes, the site 002 at Lafayette (Tippecanoe Co.) is up and running. Last
Friday, at 16:30 hours, the Tippecanoe Co. Police Department and EMS
(Medical) switched over. On Monday, at 14:30 hours, the Lafayette Police
Department switched over. Over the weekend, there were two major stories
that allowed easy identification of most talk groups. To date, I have not
heard any digital. To monitor the talk groups, I put the two different
ASTRO frequencies in line with the site 001 frequencies. The system appears
to operate like a true APCO-25 Mixed Mode. Both Type II Smartzone, and
ASTRO Digital CAI data channels are being broadcast, along with the usual
MDT Data channel. With my BC245XLT on search, all traffic is available in
the analog mode. I'm still not sure if I'm getting all the responses, or if
the switching signals are slow on the analog data channel. I'll continue to
try to post updates on indyscan and trunkedradio.net as I hear them. Rob,
if you have access to indyscan, you can echo my response.
Thanks & 73's
