[ScanIndiana] Talk Groups for Ind Dept of Highways

Well, in that respect I guess "to each his own" does come
into play. Most of what I have programmed into a scanner
is military aviation related. Obviously, I don't need this
for "local informative purposes". But if the weather turns
bad and I get involved in our local ham net for emergency
communications, I do flip the scanner over to some of the
local PD/FD/ambulance/whatever as an information source.

So the former is "fun" and the latter CAN be "fun" but
yes, it is more for information than anything else.

I see scanning as one part of "the broader radio hobby". That
includes ham, CB, FRS, GMRS, SWL, scanning and all sorts of
stuff. Scanning obviously CAN branch off into an area that
really isn't "hobby-related" at all as I noted above. To the
extent that the various segments of "the broader radio hobby"
can keep each other informed of useful material, then all
of the forums (such as this one) can serve multiple purposes.
