[ScanIndiana] Crystal Controlled Scanners? Source?

   Now to answer another question.....
A "crystal control" scanner is a scanner receiver that
requires a crystal for EACH channel it receives. Seems
like alot, but thats the way it used to be done. Back
before there were any silicon chips to program, before
there were any microprocessors to do all the math, you
had to figure out what frequency you wanted to
monitor. Then buy the correct crystal for that
frequency. Most scanners of that time were 8-10
channel. Some more, some less. Alot had special
sockets that would only use UHF crystals and some used
only VHF crystals. Sure makes you appreciate your
programmable scanner doesnt it? I hope this helps you
understand a little bit of the history of scanning.
