Our nice neat little EDACS system had a bid amount of $300,000 at the time
of setup in 1992...  To date, its cost the county taxpayers just over 5
million to keep running...  In my book, that a whole lotta mullah...  One
just has to step back and think, is a communications director really doing
his job when he spends that amount of money??  Sure, its a nice system, but
how much is too much???  A good VHF system with even a couple strategically
placed repeaters would work a whole lot better and be a whole lot less...
