HISTORY: This base was converted from active duty to a reserve base in =
1994,with most facilities going civilian as Grissom Aeroplex.  =
Originally opened in 1943 as Bunker Hill NAS.  It was taken over by the =
USAF in 1954 as Bunker Hill AFB, then renamed in 1968 for Lt Colonel =
Virgil "Gus" Grissom, an astronaut killed in 1967 in an Apollo capsule =
fire.  It has one long runway on 1127 acres.
