Hello, everyone.
There have been some questions as of late regarding the disappearance of
radio traffic from the Danville Police Department. Dave Norris, Tom and I
have been taking a closer look at the SAFE-T systems, and their operation.
Dave and Tom have trunker running, and are making incredible progress in
decoding the inner workings of this vast multi-site system.
In doing some research for this project, I took a minute to look through
the 2002 annual report published recently by the Integrated Public Safety
Commission, the group of people who spearhead the SAFE-T project.
A quote from the report....
Communities in Hendricks County have aggressively sought to join the
SAFE-T network. The town of Danville has elected to come onto the
SAFE-T network having purchased portable and mobile subscriber
equipment for both fire and police departments. Also, the Pittsboro
Fire Department has radio equipment and is expected to be operational
soon.
Everyone even remotely interested should take a look at this report. It
is quite an interesting read. You can get it in .pdf form on the SAFE-T
website.

I don't know for sure that Danville Police and Fire have already switched
to the new systems, but since their old frequencies seem to be silent, it
seems to me like a good bet.
Should be getting a 250D scanner next Tuesday Morning (I hope). I'll
listen around, and post what I find out. I can tell you that there has
been an explosive growth in new talkgroups on the SAFE-T system the past
few weeks.
Stay warm out there....
Matt
