Yeah, Rich's posts do occasionally contain some gems.

By the way, I dug through the licenses in the FCC's online database and
couldn't come up with anything that looked like an IPSC license assigned to a
tower in Hendricks County. No doubt, something will pop up in the license
grants someday.

My skeptism about this system is pretty high. Providing handheld coverage on
800MHz for an entire county the size of Hendricks sounds like a real challenge.
With towers in eastern Montgomery County, northern Morgan County, and somewhere
in northwestern Hendricks County, it might be doable.

More by the way, I spent a little time scanning the old VHF public safety
channels in Hendricks County Friday evening when everyone was sliding off the
road. Pittsboro Fire is definitely still using VHF for dispatch and tactical
traffic. Avon Police are also still using VHF for routine traffic. Avon Fire,
however, appears to just have dispatch traffic on their old VHF system.
Brownsburg Police and Fire as well as Hendricks County Sheriff are still on
VHF, also.
