Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.  Much sooner than

Lack of funding hasn't stopped them before.  The current system is
falling apart and Motorola is not fixing it.  Something will have
to be done.  If Motorola says "upgrade all of your repeaters and
handhelds" then MECA is going to yell and scream and somehow come
up with the money to replace all of their repeaters and handhelds.
 There's just no other option.

Not to argue the point but my guess is that the "very higher up"
person is giving you inaccurate information.  No one really wants
to admit what's going to happen.  But upgrading to digital is
inevitable.  The "very higher up" people I've heard unofficially
say that digital on MECA will be tested with a few small agencies
before rolling out system-wide.  The testing will probably start
sometime later next year if they get their way.

I didn't see anyone else posting this information...  And to quote
yourself, "This is a place where we share infomation among each
other and when we get the infomation we posted it here vs waiting
for the infomation to be posted on Indyscan.com which takes forever"
