Hello,
While sitting here at work tonight, I have noticed several new digital
talkgroups being used for the first time. I have no information on these,
and the sheet that I have seems to indicate that some may be outside the
range for Johnson County's talkgroups. In other words, I may have been
hearing the first of a new county or agency being integrated into the
statewide system.
Here is what I have heard so far....
8128 --> Out of talkgroup range for Johnson County
7904 --> Within the range for Johnson County (My guess: JCS-INV)
7856 --> Within the range for Johnson County (No idea what this is)
7744 --> Within the range for Johnson County (Maybe New Whiteland?)
7616 --> Within the range for Johnson County (Something in Franklin?)
7280 --> Out of talkgroup range for Johnson County
7168 --> Out of talkgroup range for Johnson County
Also have been hearing units from Rising Sun, Indiana testing the coverage
area on the new system. They were on an analog talkgroup in the 65xxx
range. I have misplaced the paper on which I wrote the specific
talkgroup.
>From this activity, I can conclude that Project SAFE-T is not dead! They
seem to be adding new systems, and experimenting with coverage from
existing towers. Time will tell which new systems are going to be online,
and when.
What we need is more people listening. Anyone within range might want to
listen in. The majority of talkgroups are analog, so there is plenty to
listen to. If submitting talkgroups to IndyScan or ScanIndiana, you might
want to use Dave Norris' Trunkcalc (available from
http://www.webaugur.com/wares/trunkid ) to make sure the submitted
talkgroups are accurate. I *have* noticed a fair amount of phantom
talkgroups being reported by the scanner here.
Now all we need is a way to figure out these mystery talkgroups. C'mon,
digital scanners....
