[ScanIndiana] Police Tac Radios

The only radios I've personally seen were 2M Mobiles that were installed in
the MCSD cars. I'm sure the IPD guys were using HT's if they didn't have a
take-home car. The Mobiles were running full power (50-60w depending on the
model).

One of the suppliers of equipment was a radio shop on the East Side. I used
to have a frequency printout from his shop that he gave a friend of mine a
while back. Not sure of the legalities of this guy selling modified HAM
equipment to the LE community for the express purpose of out-of-band
transmissions. I guess he's not responsible after the equipment leaves the
shop.

RE: the comments about using other peoples frequencies. I also remember
seeing something stating the LE agencies could use any frequency they needed
as long as it was LOW power, didn't interfere with the primary user &
TEMPORARY in nature (IE tactical ops).

I wonder if this is where the term "TAC" radio came about?

Andrew

Anyone know what type?

And were HT's used as well?
