[ScanIndiana] TAC Radios

Take a look at the frequencies listed in a Tom's original note.
MOST of these (I'd say 95%+) are NOT licensed by the people using them. The
marine frequencies are definite No-No's... They were also using HAM radio
frequencies, another violation.
One of the "reasons" for these TAC radios is for idle chit-chat (BS if
you've listened to it) that's NOT recorded by MECA. All the Trunked
frequencies are recorded in Dispatch. It's also (rarely) used for
intra-agency communications.
It might have been a good idea years ago where there were only a few
frequencies in use, but it's gotten TOTALLY out of control.
One thing to consider, if it wasn't a big deal, the brass wouldn't have
issued the order to cease.
Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for the departments & they will realize
that there may be a need for better intra-agency communications.
If the departments took the time to LICENSE their radios it would be a
different story.
Oh yeah, one other problem, the use of HAM equipment on NON-HAM frequencies
is against the FCC's Type Acceptance rules.
Just my take on the situation....
Andrew

I understand the problem is with a few that are
getting on unauthorized frequencies. Is it not legal
for them to use them on agencies licensed frequencies
though? Or am I missing something of the obvious?
