Imagine this, you go on duty and sign out a department cell phone and alpha
pager instead of a portable radio...  Our department is currently on EDACS
with one encoded digital channel (take home radios)...  However...  Cellular
phone and pagers are in use because of the "gotta knows" in the undesirable
sections of town...  My point, its back to the Ford and Chevy thing...
Which is better???  Until someone provides a factual survey, its a moot
point to argue whether its good or bad for the public to listen, fact is
that you can hear some transmissions...  My comment, only put over the air
what you want the public to hear, if the public calls it unconstitutional to
listen to their cordless conversations, then its unconstitutional to listen
to my radio of sometimes sensitive transmissions, hense the use of PCS
cellular...
