IN the counties I am familiar with, it goes to 9-1-1 equipment, maintaining
same, telephone surcharges and sometimes some or all operators saleries.
The reason salaries are taken out some times is so that the users(and
constant abusers) of the 9-1-1 system are also the people paying, isntead of
more burden on every taspayer and property owner. (Check local listings for
your counties procedures)

The law dictates as to what it can be spent on.
I am not familiar with Hendricks County, and I suggest you contact the 9-1-1
coordinator, probably at the Sheriff's dept or a central dispatch center and
i am sure they would assist you.
Usually there is a 9-1-1 board in each county that oversees the financial
situation of the 9-1-1 funds and bills that need to be paid, and future
equipment needs. These meetings are open to the public, and I suggest you
attend,.

A quick check on Hendricks county produced these figures:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Hendricks County is growing by leaps and bounds. The 2004 population of the
county is projected to be 112,000 with 32,000 families residing in the
county.
U.S. Census Bureau
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
This is a projection for 2 years from now, not now!
If there are a "million phones" in Hendricks county, where are they? Every
man, woman and child would have to have ten....
I would rather think with 30,000 families now, there are maybe 30,000
phone lines????

But your statement of a million phones at $1 each still doesn't add up...
PHONE LINES are what is charged - $1 per the line, not per phone. Ten phones
on a line is still a buck to dial 9-1-1 when you are passing out and cant
speak, and the address pops up on the screen enabling responders to arrive.
Using the Senseless Bueeau figures, there might be $30,000 but I'd say
there are many more lines than that, with all the business, so let's double
it.... 60,000 lines equals $60,000 a month... times 12....
Now equip a dispatch center and pay the phone bills, and run it 23 hrs a
day.. ....

The budgets in the counties I am familiar with here in SE Indiana are not
banking money in a secret account in Switzerland. The PSAP terminals and all
associated equipment is a huge expense, and has to be updated every few
years. Plus the phone companies charge a huge fee monthly for the service!
So your next complaint will proabably be cell phones, and the new phase II
location technology????
Here is a link to the 9-1-1 center at Plainfield. 12 people there to handle
the huge inflow of calls that continue to rise...
http://www.town.plainfield.in.us/dept/police6.htm
I am sure you can learn more by searching the web your self.....

I am not sure why you are on this list, as it seems you are not a supporter
of emergency services as most on this list are....
The ANTI GOVERNMENT people have their own email discussion lists..

SO...
9-1-1.... what is YOUR problem....?????

Maybe you are the one person then can tell us where the money collected for
the 911 systems is spent. Over a million telephones in Hendricks county
alone at $1 a piece per month. Just think of the millions of phones in
Marion and other populated counties.

The government has billons to spend on a new system...the money is coming
  from your telephone bills.
