Has anyone noticed this?

Apparently you can do a search for police incidents by date and area.  
Drawbacks include a significant delay (latest searchable date is 1/18/2002) 
and slow response.  This may not be an issue with a broadband connection, 
but I use a modem, and I could make a sandwich between lookups ;-)

Any comments on this?  Obviously it does not replace scanners, but it might 
make a neat source for additional information.
