[ScanIndiana] IN license grants LOOK CLOSER

Hello All
A BIG Thanks to Rich for posting the Indiana License grants...

and a hint to all that look at them....

NOTICE ANYTHING????

I'll give you a hint.... Mass licenses coming through for the past year for
public safety agencies, departments and businesses that have held an FCC
license for years... ALL WITH NEW CALL SIGNS!!!

I have experienced this first hand, I KNEW our volunteer fire dept. license
was ready to expire, and saw in these grants the listing for Osgood Vol Fire
Dept. and all the information for the three frequencies we hade been
licensed on for years...

Wait  Wait  Wait  for the paper to com from the FCC to sign adn send back
for the renewal... NOTHING
The license expired on May 1, 2000.... By mid May, I am thinking, HEY the
Chief got it and sent it back.....NOPE

Ok  it went to the Town, and they signed it and sent it back.......NOPE
 We checked everyone, and finally toward the end of May I'm calling the FCC,
and of course " WE only send those out as a courtesy, there is no mandate
for your to have that form sent, it's all up to you to get it done etc etc
etc
And of course, you can do it on the internet... BUT THE SITE WAS DOWN every
time I tried... then, YESSSS  It was up and NOPE
Gotta register  ....
Got all that done, and on June 2, 2000  I was ready with everything to get
this license renewed..........

NOPE!
Sorry  you only have a MONTH grace period!!!!! They don't care  that YOU
CALLED, EMAILED, REGISTERED...etc (Amateur Radio has one year grace.. better
keep an I out, we will be re-testing if they do this to us!)

so  I was HOT  and reproted tot he board what had happened. I got the prices
to get us a new license....of course  YOU HAVE TO COMPLETLY RE-COORDINATE
EVERYTHING!!
SO $700 was too much and a bright fireman said he could get this taken care
of, turn it all over to him, and he was going to the State Representative,
Senator, etc etc
YEA RIGHT!

FAST FORWARD  to April 2001... Still no license and finally we just PAID the
dam money for their scam...and in December, we finally got it...

NOW, what did I start this email off with....??????
-hundreds of NEW LICENSE every week, for people that have had them forever!

I'm not spouting the gunman on the hill theory, but.... seems that if it
walks like a duck, looks like a duck  and farts like... you know what I
mean...
Someone is making a killing off us.

Look at all those Public Service Indiana licenses, all new call signs.... I
know for a fact that almost half the fire departments in this county alone
have had to get an entirely new license for the same reasons we did! ( We
all got them at the same time in 1960 for Civil Defense radio system getting
ready for the big missle launch)
