Sorry to say though that "tech wizards" figuring them out, and "decoding a
proprietary scheme and selling it" -- are two VERY different things. The
_only_ reason we have trunktrackers is because Greg Knox figured out the
datastream using items not in the patent of Motorola. That's not the case
with APCO25 digital decoding. The specs are OPEN, and they pay APCO a fee
per card sold.

NEXTEL specs are not open, and to decode the data would be in violation of
their patent. Same story with EDACS. So while it might be theoretically
possible to do so, you would run into some major legal issues before even
thinking of selling one of those scanners.

Digital EDACS & NEXTEL will NEVER be legally monitorable.
