[ScanIndiana] Scanner Law & Stuff

I think the odds of getting the scanner law repealed is slim-to-none after
9/11. I'd don't disagree with the idea of getting rid of the law though!
Maybe they should sell a permit to help raise funds for the State (just
kidding!!)...
FYI, the cameras showing up at intersections (at least in Hamilton County)
are nothing more than motion detectors that replace the old "loop in the
road" triggers... They are NOT monitored by a human or being recorded
(yet).
The Indiana DOT does, on the other hand, have several camera's (usually
located on big towers and with covered beams) monitoring traffic flow
throughout the state.

I've heard of stories of people getting into trouble with scanners in their
vehicles. My first question always is: "What did you do to get pulled over
in the first place?". They never answer that one...
I HIGHLY doubt you're going to get pulled over for simply having an extra
antenna or two on your car. Something else has to get the officers
attention...
I've driven all over the US in various cars (with & without) HAM plates.
Always having at least 2 antennas on the vehicle. I've NEVER had a
problem... Was it luck, or was I just not giving them a reason to pull me
over (excessive speed, suspicious activity, etc.)...
<Soapbox off>
Just a thought. Have a nice evening everyone & thanks for keeping this
discussion civil! Last time this came up it got a little ugly...

Subject: RE: [ScanIndiana] 1 reason I like scanners
Well gentlemen, I just moved back to Indiana from
Alaska and I feel something is missing. There it isnt
illegal to have a scanner in your vehicle, anywhere,
anytime. I had a pro-2006 sitting on my dashboard of
my truck all the time. I really wish there was
something we could do to get this anti-scanner law
repealed. I will abide by the law as written, but at
our very first chance, and everyday after that, we
should bombard our senators and congressmen and all
state legislators to repeal that law. Since the
installation of cameras at intersections, big brother
IS watching. And if we cant listen to him, we are deaf
to any actions ge may be planning.
Just a few thoughts......
