[Scan-DC] Pro-197

Gentleman,

Having some problems getting the computer talking to a Radio Shack PRO-197.
I've tried to use a USB serial and a direct serial port and no joy on being
able to talk to the scanner. Possibly it is the cable, I am using a home
made, have tried it in "mono" and "stereo" as far as the plug insert into
the PC/IF on the front of the scanner. Have tried a few different software
packages, and still can't get it talking to the scanner.

The scanner is a friend of mine, who wanted it programmed, I really hate to
have to manually program this thing. Any ideas, original cable to
borrow/sell?
