A county park ranger I know keeps his personal G5 on him when he's on shift, he's already on the way to one of his parks where if law enforcement, fire, or EMS are dispatched, because he knows he'll eventually get that call on his radio.  And when he has to call in law enforcement, fire, or EMS, he knows who's coming and from where, about how long it'll take.  They might be in different agencies, have different roles, but they are all on the same team.
