All,
Reaching out to the list as a whole to see if anybody has additional
information beyond what is already floating around on social media.
Tomorrow is Operational Centennial Contact (celebrating 100 years of aerial
refueling) and various aircraft will be flying paths over various places
across the US.
No information has seemingly been shared about any Maryland/DC/Virginia
iteration of this event. Has anybody heard of any plans? The information on
Twitter that has come out indicates "50 states" but seemingly some are left
out.
There is a Pennsylvania path released - but it's a fairly zoomed out
sectional map and the only timing information is that the KC-135 and other
aircraft will be over the PA State House (Harrisburg) around noon.
Supposedly they will flyover parts of Gettysburg as well (no info on
timing).
One would think for a pretty public display, they'd share more detailed
information so people can get out and catch a glimpse or grab some photos.
I figured some of the ScanDC members might have insider knowledge to share.
I was planning on trying to make the drive up into PA to see the event, but
not if I can't nail down some more concrete information. I'm guessing one
possibility is they will just conduct a flyover without any advance
warning...so if you are outside great, if not, tough.
Thanks in advance!
