[Scan-DC] Something I just noticed

Hi all,

I've been scanning DCA Heli 134.35 for the last few months from downtown DC
(within line of sight of the tower, about 3 miles to the north). As I'm
sure many on here know, the tower controller is often simulcasting on both
119.1 and 134.35, usually during the night and non-peak helicopter hours,
I've noticed. However, today I've also noticed that when the controller is
simulcasting on both frequencies, I can hear them much better on 119.1 than
on 134.35. The planes and helicopters still come in pretty scratchy,
depending on atmospherics and distance. For reference, I can hear the
controller on Potomac 125.65 (which I think is transmitting from Baltimore)
much better than the controller on 134.35. I vaguely remember someone on
here mentioned that DCA's antennas are set to broadcast the
transmissions at different angles for each frequency. Is this accurate and
does anyone else have anything further to provide on why the same
transmission comes in loud and clear on 119.1, but scratchy on 134.35?

Thanks, Henry Bright
