[Scan-DC] Chicago PD encrypting, kind'a

WOW, this is very suspicious to me! First, I firmly believe that Lindsey
via Broadcastify is primarily responsible for all of the encryption that has
been occurring over the past years. For those who cry slander, this is just
my free speech belief. (Didn't former DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier public
say that her decision to encrypt MPDC involved reports of the criminal
element monitoring MPDCs broadcasts over cell phones)? Actually, if this
wasn't such a sore topic with Lindsey, why is RadioReference (RR) extremely
quick to shut down anyone who says anything about encryption? So first, I
believe that we have Lindsey making royalty money off of us with the
purchase of every Uniden scanner that performs the database downloads,
despite the fact that we FREELY provide RR with that information. Next and
based on MY BELIEF, Broadcastify is causing more and more of those systems
that we bought Uniden scanners to monitor to fall silent to encryption.
Now, we have Chicago PD providing their encrypted broadcasts to
Broadcastify.

Stop and think... this gives Chicago PD the ability to say that they do
share there broadcasts, so they can show a level of transparency - my guess
would be at an agreed upon delayed rate of rebroadcast... good. However, is
Broadcastify going to turn around and provide those broadcasts for free...
my thought is NO. So what do we have now... services being provided by
taxpayer dollars being rebroadcast by a service that I believe will make a
profit from those taxpayer dollar services... INTERESTING. Wouldn't it be
much better if those Chicago PD services were provided to a media outlet
instead, rather than a private entity that will just turn around and profit
from the freely provided service?

The preceding statements are based solely on my beliefs, and I reserve the
right to be wrong.
Dewey

Why does CPD encrypt its radio channels and give them to Broadcastify to
broadcast?
