I'd be curious to know now that it's stopped, is anything transmitting on
that frequency now from that system?

Subject: [Scan-DC] Charles County Trunk ?Malfunction?
I would much rather ask this here than Radio Reference since it deals with a
local system. I noticed that the SDS200 kept locking up on the Charles
County, MD (https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=2847) Sheriff's
Waldorf, D3 talkgroup today. Thinking something was wrong with the 200, I
tried scanning the system on the SDS100 and got the same result. Thinking,
ok maybe it's an "SDS thing", I tried It on the 436, and once again, got the
same result. I know this can't be a birdie since it's locking on a
talkgroup and not a frequency. I was just getting ready to try the 536 when
finally the light bulb went off in my head, "try Unitrunker dummy, you
always run it on the PG system while scanning," so I pointed Unitrunker at
the Charles County system. Sure enough, the Sheriff D3-Waldorf talkgroup is
staying populated in the very first system frequency, 851.5625. While
Unitrunker is showing D3-Waldorf continuously active, it is occasionally
showing a user ID of 21376, BUT, there is absolutely no activity when
monitoring live... not even an open squelch. I'm guessing that they know
there's a problem since no dispatches are going out on the channel, and
someone literally just came over the air, "Testing talkgroup D3 test." Just
out of curiosity, does anyone have an idea of what would cause a talkgroup
to stay live when there is no activity, failing controller, something else
???
